Sufi poet Sachal Sarmast’s three-day Urs starts in Khairpur

KHAIRPUR (92 News) – Three-day Urs celebrations of Sindh’s sufi poet Hazrat Hafiz Abdul Wahab aka Sachal Sarmast started in Daraza Sharif, Khairpur on Thursday. Hundreds of devotees paid tribute to the saint on the first day of the Urs. Qawals from across the country will perform during the Mehfil-e-Samaa. Contests of Sindh’s traditional game ‘Malakhra’ will be held. After laying a ‘chaddar’ on the grave of the saint, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the government writ had been established in the province. “The situation in Karachi is under control. Believe it or not extortion and target killing has reduced,” he maintained. Stringent security arrangements had been made in and around the shrine.
