Sugar mill owners being arrested and fined, says Zaka Ashraf
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Sugar Mills Association chairman Zaka Ashraf has said that sugar mills owners are being arrested and fined.
Addressing a press conference along with other office-bearers on Friday, he said that justice should be equal for all. "Sugar mill owners are worried about the steps taken by the government," he maintained.
He said that the government was forcing the millers to crush the raw sugarcane. "The crushing of raw sugarcane will reduce production of sugar in the country. The destruction of the industry will benefit India," he added.
Zaka Ashraf said that the millers want to give the full production cost. "The sugar industry is paying each type of taxes. All taxes are being waived on imported sugar," he added.
He demanded that the government should resolve the problems of the sugar mills.
