ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court on Monday declared the pleas regarding the presidential system not maintainable.

The apex court ruled that the parliamentary system is the base of the constitution. "In the constitution, the court has no power to order a change in the political system. Why did the petitioner not oppose the government system when the constitution was being formed?" the court questioned.

During the hearing, Justice Umar Atta Bandial questioned whether these petitions discuss any concrete word about the basic human right or not. "We will also look into the matter why did you move court in the presence of strong political parties," he remarked.

Ahmed Raza Kasuri, the petitioner, stated that should he also keep silent if politicians do not think about welfare of the country. "I am alone the person alive among those who created the constitution. Under the Article 46, the prime minister puts the matter before the joint session of the parliament for the referendum," he said.

Justice Muneeb Akhtar said that there is a political question in the petition which does not pertain to court.
