ISLAMABAD (92 News) - A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court, challenging the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill, 2023 on Wednesday.

The petitioner demanded that the section 4 of the Bill should be nullified. He contended that a right to file an appeal against the suo motu verdict has been given, which is contrary to the Article 184 and 185. "This right can only be granted by making a constitutional amendment," he added.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill, 2023 was challenged in the SC. The petitioner contended that only the SC had power to formulate the rules. An application was also filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), demanding that the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill, 2023 should be nullified.

On Monday, the joint sitting of parliament had passed the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill, 2023 amid protest by the PTI lawmakers.
