ISLAMABAD (92 News) – An application has been moved in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

Sources said that the application has been filed by an officer of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). "In the application, the allegations of misconduct, misbehaviour and misuse of his office have been levelled against the chief election commissioner," they added.

The petitioner alleged that CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja had threatened and misbehaved him after calling him to his office.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Supreme Court rejected the appeal against appointment of Sikandar Sultan Raja as chief election commissioner.

A two-member bench headed by the Acting Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial conducted the hearing and upheld the objections of the Registrar Office.

"Has the petitioner not gone through the decision regarding appointment of the NAB chairman? The chief election commissioner and the NAB chairman are not the judicial officer," the acting chief justice remarked.
