Tayyab torture case: DIG to lead investigation committee

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – A committee led by DIG Kashif Alam has been formed to probe into the Tayyaba torture case. The committee includes DSP Bashir Noon, SHO Khalid Awan and Inspector Bashir. The team will review the case record, compromise agreement and other investigations. Earlier on Friday, a two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Justice Saqib Nisar ordered the police to form a high-level committee to investigate into the torture of minor housemaid Tayyaba. During the proceedings, the Chief Justice remarked that the parents cannot deprive their children of basic necessities and how could they sign an agreement. He ordered the authorities concerned to get Tayyaba’s medical examination. The court also ordered to present the minor maidservant and her real parents in the court on the next hearing. The court adjourned the hearing till Wednesday. On the other hand, talking to media, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan said that the Tayyaba torture case is very important, the top court has done a good thing by taking suo moto notice of the case.
