ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has decided to hear housemaid Tayyaba’s torture case itself.

The court while rejecting Counsel Asma Jahangir’s petition said that the case would not be transferred to trial court.

The court also rejected the petition to make civil society a party in the case.

Counsel Asma Jahangir had requested the court to transfer the case to some other province. She also said that several institutions, including the government, are contacting her to withdraw from the case.

Tayyaba, aged ten, had stated before a magistrate that the family of Additional Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan had tortured her for misplacing a broom.
