Technical faults increase load-shedding across Punjab

LAHORE (92 News) –The Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) on Wednesday announced an extension in the duration of load-shedding across Punjab. As per details, the shortfall is causing a power outage after every one hour in Lahore as at least four of power plants tripped due to smog and technical faults. The shortfall of 3000MW electricity due to the power plants tripped. The Guddu, Baloki, Nishat and Nishat Choniyan power plants tripped causing a shortfall of 250 MW, officials confirmed. In order to manage the shortfall, 1000 MW from LESCO Quetta has been added to the grid in addition to extended load shedding. According to the power distribution company, after the faults are fixed, normal supply of electricity is expected to resume. The shortfall is causing a power outage after every one hour in Lahore. PEPCO authorities have expressed hope that electricity supply will be normalised as soon as the technical faults are fixed.
