Terror bid foiled in Quetta as suicide bomber killed

QUETTA (92 News) – The security forces have foiled a terror bid and killed suicide bomber outside an Imam Bargah in provincial capital of Balochistan. According to the details garnered, the security forces have foiled a planned terrorist attempt on Mecangi road Quetta. The security forces killed a suicide bomber – who wore woman clothes – before exploding himself and entering in the Imam Bargah. However, the bomb disposal squad opened his suicide jacket around the suicide bomber. Police said the suicide attacker was trying to enter the Imam Bargah. According to the DIG police, the terrorists also attacked with grenade bomb and a guard was also injured by the firing of the terrorist. The security forces have cordoned off the area.
Quetta Hazarganji blast
The investigation of Hazarganji blast continued as the body parts of the suicide bomber sent for DNA test on Sunday. According to the the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials, the body parts of the suicide bomber will undergo DNA testing whereas help has been sought from NADRA to identify the terrorist. The CTD officials also said that geo-fencing of the blast site in being conducted. On the other hand, members of Quetta’s Hazara community continued their protest against the Hazarganji suicide blast for a third consecutive day. A large number of men, women and children attended the protest demonstration on Western by-pass, demanding that the government bring those behind the attack to justice.
Earlier, at least 20 people were killed while 48 were left wounded in an explosion in Quetta area of Hazarganji.

According to details garnered, the explosion took place early morning in Sabzi Mandi (Vegetable Market) located in Hazarganji area in Quetta.

DIG Quetta Abdul Razaq Cheema confirmed to the media that 20 people, including an FC official, lost their lives in the blast. Thirty others were injured and were undergoing treatment, he added. He also said that eight member of Hazara community are included in the dead persons. The Quetta DIG also informed that an improvised explosive device (IED) had been hidden among the potatoes bag in the market. The sources said the blast meant to target the Frontier Constabulary (FC) vehicle parked in the market. Several people were injured in the explosion as they all were shifted to the Bolan Medical Complex. Buildings located nearby were also damaged in the blast, police said earlier.
