There are 28 coronavirus patients in Punjab, confirms CM Usman Buzdar

MULTAN (92 News) – Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has confirmed that there are 28 coronavirus patients in the province. Talking to the media after visiting Quarantine Centre on Wednesday, he said that 28 people had tested positive for coronavirus. “The health emergency has been declared in Punjab keeping in view the precautionary measures,” he said. He said that there were 189 suspected coronavirus patients in the province. “Of the suspected patients, 49 are being treated in different hospitals.” The Punjab chief minister said that a ban had been imposed on visits to tourist resorts. “Hotels and restaurants will remain open till 10pm. However, medical stores and markets will remain open,” he added. He said that the Punjab government in consultation with the Balochistan government will provide the best facilities at Taftan border. Sardar Usman Buzdar said that an amount of Rs236 million had been given to the Health Department. “The government has decided to allocated Rs5 billion to curb the spread of coronavirus,” he declared. He said that the Punjab government had started the steps to deal with coronavirus on January 3. “A control room has been set up in the Health Department. A cabinet committee has been set up which has continuously been holding meetings and proposing steps,” he added. He said that the Punjab government had immediately implemented the decisions made by the National Security Committee. “A meeting of the Punjab Apex Committee was held at CM House and important decisions were made,” he added. Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the government would establish a field hospital comprising 1,000 beds. “Moreover, 41 high dependency units have been established in hospitals,” he added. He said that section 144 had been imposed in the province.
