June 10, 2019
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Monday Shehbaz Sharif said that there was no reason for NAB to arrest former president Zardari. Addressing to the National Assembly session, the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) president demanded that production orders be issued for Asif Ali Zardari. “There was no reason for NAB to arrest Zardari as the latter had been appearing before the anti-corruption watchdog and the courts for case proceedings,” he said. He also said that Zardari has presented himself before the NAB on every occasion there was no need for immediate arrest. “Zardari never used delaying tactics. NAB should have appreciated this,” he added. Shehbaz Sharif urged the speaker to issue production orders for Zardari urgently. “You created respect for this house for issuing my production order. You should issue the production order of Asif Ali Zardari urgently today and provide the opposition parties to say thank you,” Shehbaz Sharif urged the NA speaker. He also advised Asad Qaiser not to delay the production order of Zardari and hoped that the production order of Khawaja Saad Rafique will also be issued.
NAB arrests Asif Ali Zardari
Earlier today, the NAB arrested Asif Ali Zardari from his Islamabad residence after the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) rejected his pre-arrest bail plea in the money laundering case.

A 15-member team of the corruption watchdog body – accompanied by police personnel – arrested PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari from his residence in Islamabad.

A number of party workers and Zardari’s children Bilawal and Aseefa saw him off as the former president was driven away in a black Landcruiser. The emotional scene has also been seen when Zardari hugs and kisses with her daughter Aseefa Zaradri. After sitting in the NAB’s vehicle, Bilawal Bhutto also gave kiss on the face of Zardari and see off him. The PPP co-chairman was shifted to the NAB Rawalpindi office. The arrest comes hours after the Islamabad High Court rejected an application seeking extension in the pre-arrest bails of Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur in the fake accounts case. Police personnel, including female officials, had entered the former president’s house after the court decision. All roads leading to the residence were blocked by police.
