Shahzad Akbar says govt will send matter of Rs29b subsidy to NAB

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar said that those benefitting from the sugar crisis will be held accountable. Addressing a press conference on Sunday, he said that the issue of Rs29 billion subsidy is being sent to the National Accountability Bureau. “In the sugar crisis, political people are also involved for their benefit. The people in the sugar industry were running on their whims,” he said. Shahzad Akbar said that the people had given the mandate to the prime minister for accountability. Shibli Faraz said that he hopes that there will be a relief in the sugar prices. “Very powerful people are sitting in the sugar industry. The commission report was made public and later its forensic audit was conducted,” he said. He said that the promise of accountability is top priority to take the country ahead. “Shahzad Akbar’s team had taken made tireless effort to complete this work. Its benefit will reach from farmers to masses,” he added.
