Those who mauled economy are pointing fingers at govt: Firdous Ashiq

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Information has said that those who mauled the economy are pointing fingers at the government. Addressing workers of Associated Press of Pakistan in Islamabad on Friday, she said that those who brought the economy to this stage are asking questions about the dollar. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the eight-month government cannot be held accountable for 70 years. “We prefer national interest to political interest,” she said. She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is contesting the case of Pakistan like a leader. “Imran Khan is most concerned about the oppressed and the poor,” he said. Firdous Ashiq Awan invited the opposition to sit with the government and prepare a long-term economic reform program to address economic challenges of the country. She said that the government and the opposition should jointly make efforts for progress and development of the country. The special assistant urged the opposition to play a positive and constructive role instead of creating uncertainty and instability in the country. She said people had attached expectations with parliament and politicians have a responsibility to respond to the national challenges. She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has a reform agenda to make future of the coming generations bright. She said institutions will be strengthened under the reform agenda. The special assistant said that the government believes in economic empowerment of the women, and measures to this effect are also being taken. She said women should be provided equal opportunities to demonstrate their capabilities in every sector. She said the media workers would be made part of Health Card scheme and Naya Pakistan Housing Program.

It’s a challenge to highlight positive image of Pakistan: Firdous

Earlier addressing the certificate distribution ceremony of First Professional Management Course of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Department, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that it is a challenge to highlight the positive image of the country. She said that modern technology is vital for raising the media to the international standards. “Foreign investors get disappointed by turmoil in the country,” she said. The minister said that there is need to improve the role of the media. “The electronic media is being replaced by social and digital media,” she added. Emphasizing capacity building of media persons, the Special Assistant said disinformation caused by communication gaps creates chaos and disorder in the society. Firdous Ashiq Awan urged the participants of the course to engage with the media persons for accurate dissemination of information. In a message of felicitation for the newly elected office bearers of Rawalpindi and Islamabad Union of Journalists, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information said government fully believes in the basic constitutional right of freedom of expression. She said facilitation of the media is a priority of the PTI government. The special assistant said the government desires for further promotion of active and vibrant media of Pakistan. She said all possible measures will be taken with consultation of journalist associations for protection of rights of journalists and their welfare.
