LAHORE (92 News) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Monday sentenced three accused to seven years in prison in the kidnap-cum-ransom case involving renowned playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar.
Judge Arshad Javed announced the verdict, convicting Amna Urooj, Mamnoon Haider, and Zeeshan, while acquitting eight others due to the lack of evidence.
The court noted that although the charge of kidnapping could not be proven, there was sufficient evidence of ransom demands.
The prosecution had earlier alleged that Qamar was lured to a flat, secretly filmed in an objectionable condition, and later held hostage for ransom.
The incident took place in July last year, prompting a detailed investigation that led to the convictions.
