Three killed, several injured in Quetta’s Hazarganj blast

QUETTA (92 News) – At least three people were killed and several injured in an explosion in Quetta’s Hazarganj Sunday afternoon.

According to police sources, the blast took place in Shalkot’s Hazar Ganji area in Balochistan. the explosive material was planted on a motorcycle while one vehicle and motorcycles parked at the scene caught fire after the bomb explosion.

Soon after the incident, security forces including police and rescue teams reached the spot.

An emergency has been declared at Civil Hospital and the Bolan Medical College. Injured people are being shifted to the hospitals.

Three bodies have been taken to Civil Hospital while one is at Sheikh Zayed Hospital.

The explosion occurred in a katchi abadi in front of some shops. The police suspect it might have been an explosive device strapped onto a motorbike.

The Pakistan Democratic Movement is also hosting its third anti-government rally at the Ayub Ground in Quetta. The rally site is, however, 35 to 40 minutes away from the blast site.

The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) had earlier issued a security alert on October 22 that outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan is planning attacks on political and religious leaderships across Quetta and Peshawar in the near future.

According to the alert issued by the counter-terrorism watchdog, TTP is planning a terrorist attack on political and religious leaders of the country in the two provincial capitals.
