Three more polio cases reported in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Three more polio cases reported on Sunday, taking the total number up to 76 this year across the country.
The efforts are continue to eradication of polio but this has become difficult task. According to the Health Ministry, the two cases of polio were reported from Lakki Marwat area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), while the other polio case was reported in the Harnai district of Balochistan.
The tally of polio cases has reached up to 76 this year in Pakistan, said health ministry.
On Octoer 18, Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Eradication Babar Bin Atta has tendered resignation from his post.
In a series of tweet, Babar Bin Atta announced his resignation and explained the reason. “After a stint of over a year as the Prime Ministers Focal Person for Polio, I have asked the PM to relieve me of my duties because of some personal reasons pertaining to my family. During this time I got a chance to work with the best minds in the world,” he said.
“When I look back, I am proud to say that I made all possible efforts to create that enabling environment where polio eradication is a top priority. A 24/7 call centre will soon be inaugurated to address all concerns of people who have questions related to the vaccine,” he mentioned.
“The countries first ever Perception Management Initiative will be rolled out by the end of this month and the effects of which will be a game changer I assure. I am leaving at a time when the low transmission season is about to commence,” he explained.
Earlier, two more polio cases were surfaced in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) after the detection of the virus in two infants.
According to the reports, a 10-month-old boy was reported with polio virus in Ladha tehsil of North Waziristan, taking the total number up to 46 in the province.
Meanwhile, an eight-month-old girl was diagnosed with polio virus in Karachi’s Orangi Town and taking the total number up to 6 in Sindh. It is pertinent to mention here that the parents of both children had rejected administration of polio drops.
