Torrential monsoon rains continue in Karachi, inundates several areas

KARACHI (92 News) - Continuous and torrential rains of monsoon wreaked havoc in Karachi as several areas of the city inundated due to heavy rain on Tuesday. According to the reports, the metropolis is looking like a sea as the water spread everywhere due to storm spell of monsoon. The water gathered at Shahrah-e-Faisal and Karsaz Road. Jinnah Hospital's OT complex submerged in rainwater. The doctors, patients and relatives trapped in building.
Vehicles damaged in Gulistan-e-Johar landslide
Parked vehicles were buried under the debris of a landslide near Gulistan-e-Johar’s Munawwar Chowrangi following heavy rainfall that lashed various areas of Karachi. According to rescue officials, no loss of life or injuries has been reported so far. However, a number of vehicles parked there are stuck under the debris of rocks. The police and rescue officials have reached the site and an operation is underway.
Korangi Crossing road closed for traffic
Korangi Crossing Road closed for vehicular traffic after flooding in Malir River due to rainfall. Traffic Police in its update said that the traffic to Gudam Chowrangi has been diverted to Jam Sadiq Bridge. The traffic from Baloch Colony being guided to Qayyumabad, police statement said. It is to be mentioned here that ongoing monsoon rainfall has caused flooding in Malir River and rising level of the water swept away the filter wall of the Malir spillway. The breach in the dyke and flooding posing threat to Korangi industrial area and the adjacent population.
