ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The death toll from torrential monsoon rains and floods since the onset of the rainy season across the country has reached 1,290.
According to National Flood Response and Coordination Center, 53 thousand 700 citizens were affected in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 91 lakh 82 thousand 616 in Balochistan, 43 lakh 50 thousand 490 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 51 thousand 500 in Gilgit-Baltistan. Similarly, 48 lakh 44 thousand 253 citizens were affected in Punjab and 1 crore 45 lakh 63 thousand 770 citizens in Sindh.
According to the NFRCC report, the road and railway network has been suspended since June 14 of this year. The condition of highways in Balochistan and Sindh has worsened. In Balochistan, a landslide occurred in a 24 km section in the Vango hilly area. 100 to 140 km stretch of M8 highway has been damaged in this area of Balochistan. National Highway N50 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is open for traffic except Sago Bridge.
NFRCC further said that railway track from Sabi to Habibkot is closed, railway line from Hyderabad to Rohri and Multan, railway line from Kotri to Lakhishah and Dadu is affected. 29 teams are engaged to survey the damage in the flood affected areas.
