Torture on journalist: Nawaz’s guards sent to jail on judicial remand

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s two personal security guards on Tuesday were sent to jail on 14-days judicial remand for torture on TV cameraman. Mansab and Mohsin were produced before a civil judge in Islamabad. The judge directed to hand them over to police on judicial remand. The accused also filed a bail plea during the hearing, following which the court issued a notice to the police. The FIR of the incident has been registered under section 2-506 and 355 in secretariat police station on the plea of the cameraman. Nawaz Sharif’s three security guards including the main suspect Shakoor have been nominated in the FIR which says that the victim was tortured on the directions of chief security guard. Earlier today, Nawaz Sharif apologized for his personal guards’ misbehavior with the journalists as well as alleged that the guard was hit first with camera on his forehead. Speaking to the journalists in the accountability court, Nawaz Sharif regretted over the incidents saying that it was a saddened incident for me as well and that those responsible will be held accountable. The PML-N supreme leader said that he was unaware from complete story of the incident, but as he was leaving National Assembly the guard, Shakoor was clearing the path for him. He defended his guard and said that Shakoor pushed a cameraman and the TV cameraman hit the guard with the camera. He also lamented that this should have never happened but objected on cameraman for hitting Shakoor. He assured that he would take action against the guard as per law. Meanwhile, the journalists refused to accept the invitation of tea given by the Nawaz Sharif. On the other hand, the guards pushed the journalists during the appearance of Nawaz Shairf. The case was lodged against the three guards of Nawaz Sharif for violence on the journalist. On Monday, TV cameraman was brutally assaulted by the guards of the former premier outside the Parliament House where Sharif had come to meet his brother Shehbaz Sharif. The repeat of brazen maltreatment occurred today when Nawaz Sharif reached the Accountability Court to appear in the hearing of Flagship reference he is facing. The security squad of Sharif shoved away the journalists and resorted to foul language. Intriguingly, on arrival at the court Nawaz Sharif evaded an avalanche of queries of reporters and passed by without speaking out.
