Toshakhana reference: CEC orders Imran Khan's counsel to provide record

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja on Thursday ordered PTI chairman Imran Khan's counsel to provide the record in the Toshakhana reference.

During the hearing in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Imran Khan's assistant counsel Barrister Gohar said that Imran Khan is not a member of the National Assembly.

The CEC remarked that Imran Khan is still a member of the National Assembly in the Election Commission's documents. “It is said on record that the Election Commission is not accepting resignations. The Election Commission accepted all the resignations received. “Go to media for speeches and discuss law there. We have to decide this case within 30 days,” he added.

On the request of Imran Khan's counsel, the Election Commission ordered to provide the records to him and adjourned the hearing of the case till August 22. 

Talking to media outside the Election Commission after the hearing, PML-N leader Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha said that Imran Khan had told a lie. “He will have to appear before the Election Commission and give receipts. Pakistan should get real leaders. Mian Nawaz Sharif will come to Pakistan soon,” he added.
