Traders observe shutter down strike against withholding tax today

LAHORE (92 News) – Traders will observe the shutter down strike against the withholding tax across the country on Saturday. The All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran leaders have threatened to launch a civil disobedience movement if the government did not fulfil their demands. They said that they fear that the government might freeze their bank accounts. They appealed to the nation to support the traders today. As many as 132 traders’ organizations are observing the strike. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced to support the strike. Traders will also observe the strike on August 5. On the other hand, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the withholding tax will not be reduced further. Meanwhile, the FBR has announced a hefty waiver for the new tax payers.
