Traders to observe shutterdown strike on August 1 throughout country as talks failed

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The traders have announced to observe strike on 1st August throughout the country as the government and traders failed to reach an agreement over withholding tax on banking transactions issue and announced not to hold dialogues until the government withdrew the tax. The dialogues between traders and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials lasted for six hours but FBR officials refused to withdraw tax. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has called on the traders for another round of dialogue today (Tuesday) and demanded the traders to cooperate with the government. The business community has announced its support for the decision against the imposistion of withholding tax and said that the businesses have already been destroyed, they can not pay tax. They said that they would close the business throughout the country, if the government did not except their demand. Traders leader Khalid Pervaiz said that they will not hold dialogues with the government and shutter down strike will be observed on August 1 at all caost. On other other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa traders leader Haji Afzal said that the behavior of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was not right.
