Traffic resumes after countrywide protests by religious party workers

GUJRANWALA (92 News) - Traffic flow across the country is begin resumed after a nationwide protest by religious party workers.

According to the details garnered, Rangers dispersed the protesters from GT Road Chanda Qila. However, the protest was continued at Chanda Qila from yesterday.

The Rangers personnel have been deployed around Chanda Fort. Traffic flow was restored on GT Road. The road was also opened in Jhelum.

The protests are continued in many areas of Lahore which disrupted the traffic flow in city. Meanwhile, the protests are going on in Orangi Town No 5, Baldia No 5, Korangi Dhai and Hub River Road in Karachi.

A day earlier, sit-ins being observed by a religious party in Lahore and other cities of Pakistan have led to a serious disruption in the flow of traffic.

The roads are blocked in many cities of the country. Citizens are facing the severe difficulties. Protests at dozens of places in Lahore also disrupted the traffic system. Citizens also troubled in Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura and other cities.

The Punjab government, after Lahore, has sought the deployment of Rangers personnel for other districts as well. The Punjab home department has written to the federal government after receiving a nod in this regard by Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar.

The deployment of Rangers has been requested for Rahim Yar Khan, Chakwal, Sheikhupura and Gujranwala.

Long queues of vehicles were witnessed all entry and exit points of the city due to the protest of a religious party. Passengers faced numerous problems due to blockage of traffic. People could not reach their offices due to blockage of roads.

In Rawalpindi, the traffic system was badly disrupted. The protesters blocked traffic by erecting barricades. A heavy contingent of police also reached the spot.

In Karachi, roads were blocked at three key points, causing problems for motorists and pedestrians. The police seized dozens of motorcycles in Orangi Town No 5.
