ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has said that the Transparency International report is an announcement of the collapse of the system.

In a message on Twitter on Wednesday, he said that the rulers should conduct self-accountability and look into own collar. "We will have to think how much an incompetent person can be dangerous," he added.

Shehbaz Sharif said that Imran Niazi was still not bothering about the country or its name. "He is busy saving his fake image. I feel pity on his thought," he maintained.

He said that the time had proved that only Nawaz Sharif can end corruption from the country.

In a report on Tuesday, Transparency International said that Pakistan had dropped 16 places in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for 2021 compared to the previous year, ranking 140 out of 180 countries.

The CPI ranks 180 countries and territories around the world by their perceived levels of public sector corruption.

As per the details, Pakistan’s score dropped by three points to 28 on the CPI. Last year, the country’s score was 31. "It shows that corruption has increased in Pakistan as compared to the last year," said the report.

According to the report, the reasons behind the increase in corruption are: a continuous decrease in the rule of law and lack of concerted efforts to stop corruption. "The trend of signing public agreements, licensing and favourite decisions increased after getting bribe," it stated.
