Treason Case: Court orders to seize properties of Gen (r) Musharraf

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – A special court on Thursday directed the interior ministry to seize properties of General (r) Pervez Musharraf in treason case against the former president. A three-member bench of the special court headed by Justice Yahiya Afridi was hearing the treason case against former president Gen (r) Musharraf. During the proceedings, prosecution lawyer Akram Sheikh appeared before the court. A supplementary report of the interior ministry was also presented in the court, stating that four out of seven properties are owned by Gen (r) Musharraf. The head of the bench asked what steps have been taken for the arrest of the former president. Ten months have passed but the details of Gen (r) Musharraf’s properties in Dubai were presented in the court. Justice Yahiya Afridi observed why wasn’t Interpol contacted despite issuance of arrest warrants of the former president and what steps the government and interior ministry had taken to bring him back to the country. He remarked what should be done to ensure the presence of the Gen (r) Musharraf in the court. Senior lawyer Farogh Naseem excused himself from Musharraf’s legal representation, after which Faisal Chaudhry appeared to represent the former president. The court directed the interior ministry to seize properties of General (r) Pervez Musharraf. The court also summoned officials of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Foreign Ministry. The court further summoned the Mutual Legal Assiatance agreement with United Arab Emirates (UAE).
