Tremors felt in Skardu, Pakistan’s northern region

SKARDU (92 News) – Tremors were felt in Skardu, Upper Dir, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, and Pakistan’s northern regions on Sunday morning. According to the sources, an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter Scale jolted in Gilgit-Baltistan, Diamer, Chilas, Sherwan and Ghazar. There were no reports of any injuries or damage to property. According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC), the magnitude of the quake was recorded at 4.7 on the Richter scale. Whereas, the epicentre of the quake was 58 kilometres from Chalas, a village in Kunar Province in eastern Afghanistan, at a depth of 15 kilometres. The epicenter is said to be 42km deep and 260km north-west of Mingora. Tremors were also felt in Astore, Gilgit, Kotli, Islamabad and other areas. This is a second quake to hit northern areas of the country in less than a week.
