Trial completed as Imran Farooq case verdict to be announced on June 18

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – After completing the trial of Dr Imran Farooq murder case, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) reserved on Thursday its verdict. It is pertinent mention her that Imran Farooq is a senior MQM leader, who was stabbed to death outside his house in London in 2010. The will announce the verdict of Imran Farooq murder case on June 18, 2020. The defence lawyer concluded his arguments on Wednesday, saying the prosecution doesn’t have any evidence to link MQM founder Altaf Hussain to the murder. The three main suspects, Khalid Shamim, Mohsin Ali Syed and Moazzam Ali, have already retracted their confessional statements in the case. The Federal Investigation Agency had charged Mohsin and Kashif with Dr Farooq’s murder in 2016. Both of them were members of the MQM’s student wing. The FIA Agency has said that accused are Pakistanis, murder was also planned in Pakistan and air tickets were also purchased from the country. FIA asked the court to sentence the accused according to the law of the land. The agency further said that all accused were associated with MQM and there is concrete evidence against founder of the party and asked court to give orders of property confiscation of Altaf Hussain. On this, court said that it has already ordered confiscation of Altaf’s property. Anti-Terrorism court reserved the verdict of the case which will be announced on June 18, 2020. Imran Farooq was a British-Pakistani politician who was best known for his association with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). He lived in London from 1999 until he was murdered in September 2010. In her statement, Dr Farooq’s widow Shumaila had said that she didn’t see anyone killing her husband, but neighbours told her that two men attacked him with a knife and brick. She had recorded her statement through a video link in February this year.
