Trial of Al-Azizia, Hill Metal references against Sharifs to be held in Adiala

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Ministry of Law and Justice has issued notification that the trial remaining graft references against Sharif family will be held in Adiala jail. According to the notification, the Accountability Court would conduct trial of remaining references, which include Flagship Investments and Al Azizia Steel Mills, against Nawaz and others at the Adiala jail. Accountability Court-I Judge Muhammad Bashir, who on Friday night issued warrants for imprisonment for Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, will conduct the trial against Sharifs in the jail. “In exercise of the powers conferred by subsection (b) of section 16 of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999 (XVIII of 1999), the federal government is please to specify the Central Jail Adiala, Rawalpindi, to be the place where the Accountability Court-I, Islamabad shall sit for trial of References No. 18/2017 and 19/2017 against Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and others,” the notification read. On Thursday, the accountability court rejected petition pertaining transfer of Al-Azizia reference to another judge. Judge Muhammad Bashir is currently hearing all the references against Sharif family. On Friday night, Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were arrested after a minutes landing on Allama Iqbal International Airport and taken to the Adiala jail.
