Trump doesn’t know what the word sacrifice means, says Ghazala Khan

WASHINGTON (92 News) – Ghazala Khan, the mother of a Muslim US soldier who was killed in Iraq, has on Monday said that US presidential hopeful Donald Trump doesn’t know the teachings of Islam and what the word sacrifice means. US presidential candidate Donald Trump had said in an interview that that Ghazala Khan, the mother of a Muslim US soldier who was killed in Iraq, did not join her husband in speaking because her religion would not allow it. Ghazala Khan replied to Trump with a moving essay in The Washington Post. "Here is my answer to Donald Trump," she wrote. "Because without saying a thing, all the world, all America, felt my pain." Ghazala spoke of the sacrifice she made letting her son go to war for the US, and her and her husband’s fear for his safety. “I had already been through one war, in Pakistan in 1965, when I was just a high school student. So I was very scared,” she wrote. “You can sacrifice yourself, but you cannot take it that your kids will do this.” Ghazala Khan recounted memories of her son, Captain Humayun Khan, and concluded by charging that Trump "doesn’t know what the word sacrifice means." Her husband, Khizr Khan, also weighed in after Trump's response. He said he appreciates that Trump called his son a hero, but he finds the Republican presidential nominee "disingenuous" because of his policies and his rhetoric.
