WASHINGTON (Web Desk) United States (US) President Donald Trump used a speech at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday to launch a bitter attack against the media and his political enemies, turning what was intended to be a discussion on law and order into a grievance-filled diatribe.
The 78-year-old president, the first convicted felon to hold office, criticised his predecessor Joe Biden, accusing him of "weaponising" the Justice Department against him.
Trump vowed to expose his opponents, declaring, “Our predecessors turned the Department of Justice into the Department of Injustice. Those days are over.”
Trump also reserved strong words for media outlets critical of him, including CNN and MSNBC, claiming they were “political arms” of the Democratic Party and accusing them of spreading "illegal" content.
“What they do is illegal,” he said, continuing his longstanding battle with the media, which he has repeatedly branded as “fake news.”
The speech marked a further break from traditional political norms, with Trump pledging to overhaul the Justice Department should he win a second term in 2024.
