Trump shows interest to buy PIA-owned Roosevelt Hotel in New York

WASHINGTON (92 News) – US President Donald Trump has shown interest to buy Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) owned Roosevelt Hotel in New York, the National Assembly’s standing committee on privatisation was told. During a meeting of the NA body, a senior PIA official told the members that the US president had shown interest to purchase the Roosevelt Hotel. The top PIA official informed the National Assembly Standing Committee on Privatisation that the United States president is interested in purchasing the hotel, located in New York's Manhattan borough. Privatisation Minister Muhammad Mian Soomro informed the meeting that government was not selling the hotel. “The government is planning to lease the property out or work with a private sector in a joint venture,” he added. Earlier this month, the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP) had decided against selling off the Roosevelt and to run it through a joint venture instead.
