WASHINGTON (Web Desk) United States (US) President Donald Trump announced a major initiative to build infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI), led by Japan’s SoftBank, cloud giant Oracle, and ChatGPT creator OpenAI.
The project, called Stargate, will focus on creating the physical and virtual infrastructure to support next-generation AI advancements.
The venture aims to initially invest $100 billion, with the potential to reach up to $500 billion over the next four years.
News of the project comes a day after Trump's inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent tech chiefs.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, and Oracle's founder Larry Ellison also attended the announcement and praised Trump on their respective social media handles.
"We couldn't have done this without you," Altman said.
OpenAI later said in an X post that the project "will not only support the re-industrialization of the United States but also provide a strategic capability to protect the national security of America and its allies."
Ellison highlighted AI’s potential in medical advancements, such as early cancer detection through blood tests. Following the news, SoftBank’s stock surged more than eight percent in Tokyo.
The project is already underway in Texas, which is becoming an alternative hub for major tech investments, and the team is considering further locations for additional campuses across the country.
