Five cops among 9 martyred in suicide attack near check-post in Raiwind

LAHORE (92 News) – Nine people, including five policemen, were martyred while 19 others were injured in a suicide attack on police check-post in Raiwind on Wednesday. ASP Zubair was also injured in the attack. A heavy contingent of police led by SP Umar Farooq reached the spot and cordoned off the area. DIG Operations Haider Ashraf told 92 News that the policemen were targeted in the attack. He said that the attacker had tried to enter the congregation. The DIG Operations said that body parts of the attacker are being sent to the Forensic Laboratory. He said that the attacker blew himself up when policemen stopped him. The DIG said that the country is at war and jawans evaded a disaster by embracing martyrdom. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, PTI chairman Imran Khan, JI ameer Sirajul Haq and MQM-P chairman Farooq Sattar have condemned the attack.
