Two die as monsoon spell wreaks havoc in twin cities

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The monsoon spell of rains wreaked havoc in the twin cities, inundating houses in low-lying areas on Wednesday.

In Rawalpindi, a woman and a child were killed when the roof of their house collapsed in Tanch Bhata and Gachi Pahari. All roads, streets and bazaars were giving the canal-like look. After the heavy rains, all nullahs were in flood. Dozens of vehicles drowned in the rainwater.

The WASA staff continued to pull out water from low-lying areas. The Rawalpindi deputy commissioner and the WASA MD visited the Nullah Lai.

The areas, including Girja Road, Chak Jilal Din, Sher Zaman Colony and Dhok Juma. In Islamabad, the Korang Nullah overflowed and rainwater entered houses. As a result, several vehicles drowned.
