Seven die as incessant rain inundates several areas in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – Seven people died in different incidents during incessant rain that inundated several areas, including Gulistan-e-Johar, Azizabad, Landhi, Nazimabad, Korangi and Malir, on Friday. Rainwater entered houses in Block II, Azizabad. Home appliances and furniture went out of order due to the rainwater. The Met Office has warned of urban flooding in different cities, including Hyderabad. People said that they had informed the Water and Sewerage Board authorities, but no one listened to them. During the rain, the power supply to a half of the city was disrupted after over 500 feeders tripped. Areas, including Orangi Town, Baldia Town, Ranchor Line and Layari were deprived of electricity. Two, electrocuted, incessant rain, inundates, several areas, Karachi Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited areas, including CBM Drain. The Korangi deputy commissioner briefed him about cleanliness. Speaking on the occasion, CM Murad Ali Shah said that the cleanliness of the drains is going on even during the heavy rain. "The drains are choked as the people throw garbage in the drain," he added. He said that there is need to change the NAB law. "The chief minister of a big province has been summoned by the NAB. I have appeared before the NAB several times," he added. The CM asked the people to join hands to launch mega projects, including K-4, in the city.
