Two killed, 7 injured as fire erupts in building in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – Two people were killed while seven others injured when a building caught fire in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area on Thursday. Fire fighters extinguished fire after hectic efforts. A rescue operation is continuing till the filing of this report. Pakistan Navy’s helicopters and fire tenders took part in the rescue operation. Fire brigade officials said that the fire which had engulfed five to six floors of the building has been doused. "The fire erupted owing to a short circuit on the fourth floor of the building and spread through electrical wires," the fire brigade officials continued. Ten fire tenders, two snorkels and a water browser doused the fire, the fire brigade officials added. On Saturday night, a blaze had erupted in the metropolis' Finance and Trade Center Building but was brought under control after a few hours. The fire, which erupted on the sixth floor of the building on Shahrah-e-Faisal, was so severe that it spread to the floor below very soon.
