Two martyred, several injured by Indian troops in Occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR (KMS) – In Occupied Kashmir, a youth and teacher arrested by India’s National Investigating Agency (NIA) were martyred in custody on Tuesday. The youth identified as Rizwan Pandit was arrested by the NIA sleuths from Awantipora area of Pulwama, last month, and lost his life due to torture during custody at the infamous Cargo camp run by Special Operations Group (SOG) of Indian police in Srinagar. Rizwan Pandit was arrested last month from his house in Awantipora during a raid by the NIA after Pulwama incident, locals told media men. The victim a teacher at Hajaz Public School, Awantipora, was also arrested on August 30, 2018. Meanwhile, the killing of the teacher in NIA custody triggered forceful anti-India protest demonstrations in Awantipora and adjoining areas in Pulwama district. Several people were injured when Indian troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells on the protesters. The clashes between demonstrators and the Indian forces’ personnel were going on till last reports came in. On the other hand, unidentified gunmen killed a 25-year-old labourer in Pulwama district. The 25-year-old labourer, Mohsin Ahmed Wani, was shot at by unknown gunmen outside his home at Reshipora in Awantipora area of the district. Earlier, his cousin Tariq Ahmed Wani was also shot dead by unknown gunmen near Aabghar area of Tral in the district. Indian troops launched door-to-door searches during cordon and search operations in several areas of Baramulla, Bandipora, Badgam and Pulwama, districts. The forces’ personnel also sealed all the entry and exit points in the areas under operation. Meanwhile, Indian police arrested a prominent cleric, Muhammad Amin, and ten other persons from Dangarpora area of Pulwama district. The 52-year-old Mohammed Amin has been leading prayers in the district for more than 15 years and runs an Islamic centre in the Wasibugh area.
