ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Two new cases of polio have been surfaced from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan on Wednesday. According to reports, with the current inclusion of two more cases of this polio disease, the number has jumped to 60, this year. A seventeen-month-old kid in Laki Marwat and five-month baby girl in Qila Abdullah, Balochistan were found affected by polio, reported by the health department officials. It was also reported that the parents had refused to administer their child anti-polio drops during the drive. Earlier, the anti-polio drive concluded successfully in 46 districts across the country. As many as 7.1 million children were administered the anti-polio drops. According to the Polio Program, no information about misbehavior or torture of the anti-polio teams had been received so far. Parents welcomed the anti-polio teams. In future, no child will be forcibly administered the anti-polio drops. Seventy-five accounts of Facebook and YouTube were blocked for anti-polio posts. The performance of six deputy commissioner – Lahore, Peshawar, Swabi, Quetta, Nowshera and Hyderabad – had been laudable in 46 districts. The armed force, police and other agencies also displayed excellent performance. Focal Person to Prime Minister on polio eradication Babar Bin Atta had said as many 8.5 million children below the age of five years will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign. He ruled out the reports related to arrest the parents who will refuse to anti-polio drops for their children.
