Two suspects who opened fire on murdered judge Aftab Afridi arrested

SWABI (92 News) - Police claimed to have arrested two suspects who opened fire on the vehicle of ATC judge Aftab Afridi, which led to the killing of four people on board including the judge.

According to the district police officer (DPO) Swabi, a target killer identified as Zakir opened fire on the vehicle, killing four people on board. “Another target killer, Shahzad, also opened fire on the judge’s vehicle from the other side,” the cop said adding that both the suspects hail from Peshawar.

The DPO further said that one of the suspects, Zakir, has also confessed to his crime before the court.

On April 5, Police have registered an FIR of the murder of a Swat Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge with his three family members at the Swabi Interchange on Islamabad-Peshwar Motorway. According to the reports, the case was registered on a complaint of the judge’s son at Chota Lahore police station.

The five suspects were arrested during a joint police team raids in Peshawar and Khyber districts. Two vehicles nominated in the FIR were also recovered from their possession.

Slain judge’s son Majid Afridi will have a look at the arrested suspects during an identification parade to confirm whether they were involved in the murder of his father and other family members.

Earlier, some unidentified armed assailants killed an ATC judge along with his wife and two children. The incident took place at Anbar Interchange near Swabi when some unidentified armed men sprayed the bullets on the vehicle of an ATC judge Aftab Afridi.

Resultantly, Aftab Afridi his wife and two children died on the spot, while security guards in the judge’s convoy also sustained injuries.
