UN chief thanks Mahira Khan for extraordinary support

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – United Nations (UN) Secretary General António Guterres met with refugees’ ambassadors in Pakistan including renowned Pakistani actress Mahira Khan. In a tweet, the UN chief said that they marked 40 years of Pakistan’s solidarity with Afghan refugees and it was a pleasure to meet refugees’ ambassadors in Pakistan. Antonio Guterres also thanked Mahira Khan and all Pakistanis for their extraordinary support. He also shared his picture with the film actress on social media micro-blogging website twitter. “As we mark 40 years of Pakistan’s solidarity with Afghan refugees, it was a pleasure to meet @Refugees. Goodwill Ambassador @TheMahiraKhan I thank her and all Pakistanis for their extraordinary support,” the UN chief tweeted. In another tweet, UN Secretary General António Guterres has said that Pakistan is among top contributors to UN Peacekeeping. He paid tribute to the sacrifices and services rendered by the brave personal including women of Pakistan. “Pakistan is among the top contributors to @UNPeacekeeping. It was inspiring to meet some of the brave women and men who are #ServingForPeace around the world. Thank you for your service and sacrifice!,” António Guterres tweeted. On the other hand, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres will spend busy day in Lahore today (Tuesday). Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht received the UN secretary general on his arrival at the airport. The schedule of today’s engagements of the UN chief has been finalized in Lahore. UN chief along with his delegation reached Lahore from Islamabad on Monday night on a two-day visit to the Punjab capital.
