UN increases humanitarian aid appeal for Pakistan by five times

GENEVA (92 News) - In view of the flood situation, the United Nations has increased the humanitarian aid appeal for Pakistan by five times.

The humanitarian aid appeal for Pakistan has been increased 5 times. The United Nations has increased the aid appeal from 160 million dollars to 816 million dollars. An appeal for an increase in aid will be made jointly by the United Nations and Pakistan in Geneva.

The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Pakistan, Julian Harness, said in a media briefing that there has been immense destruction due to floods in Pakistan. The victims are entering a second wave of death and destruction. Battling water-borne diseases after the worst floods.

Julian Harness told the media that more than five million people in Pakistan are facing severe food crisis. If the government of Pakistan does not help in health, food, water and sanitation works in the affected areas, there will be a terrible increase in children's diseases. Water-borne diseases are a concern in Sindh and Balochistan.
