UN peacekeepers missions based on principles of Quaid-e-Azam: Antonio
LAHORE (92 News) – UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres paid rich tributes to the founder of Pakistan, saying that UN peacekeeping missions are also based on the principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Speaking during a visit in NUST university, the UN chief said that he has seen himself the professional skills of the Pakistani military, police and civilians in peace missions. He also thanked Pakistanis for key services for a secure and peaceful world.
“Pakistan is the first country who deployed Pakistani women peacekeepers in South Kivu and Congo and set a great example for other partner countries by deploying women peacekeepers. Pakistani women played a vital role in technical education, medical support and psychological support,” the UN secretary general explained.
Antonio Gutres also mentioned that peace in one place means the establishment of peace everywhere. “Pakistan is a permanent and reliable partner in peace efforts worldwide, Pakistan has established the first peace party in the Congo in 1960, under the UN flag. 157 Pakistani soldiers, policemen and civilians sacrificed their lives, we will never forget Pakistani sacrifices for peace,” he added.
