Unannounced loadshedding affected govt’s credibility, says PM Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that unannounced loadshedding has affected credibility of the government.

Addressing a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy on Tuesday, he directed the Ministry of Water and Power to take steps on emergency basis to overcome power shortage in the country.

He expressed his indignation at negligence of relevant departments, saying that why the relevant departments did not take preemptive measures keeping in view the intensity of weather and shortage of water in dams.

The prime minister directed that the consumers should be given relief at the earliest by reducing the power outages.

The Ministry of Water and Power briefed the committee that the power demand suddenly increased to over 2,500 megawatts due to unexpected soaring of mercury and shortage of water in the dams.
