Unannounced shutdown continues in Karachi despite assurances by Asad Umar, governor

KARACHI (92 News) – Despite assurances by Federal Minister for Planning and Reforms, unannounced power shutdown continued across the city on Wednesday. The loadshedding continued on the pretext of maintenance and technical fault in different areas of the city, including Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Quaidabad, Ranchor Line, Orangi Town, Lines Area, Kharadar and Kemari. Citizens facing worried about loadshedding and overbilling have appealed to the Supreme Court to take notice of the unannounced loadshedding. They said that K-Electric had not fulfilled the promise with Governor Imran Ismail and Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar. They asked Asad Umar to use the power of law after K-Electric is being provided cheap gas and furnace oil. They demanded that unannounced loadhsedding as well as overbilling should be ended immediately. Meanwhile addressing a press conference, Jamaat-e-Islami city ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Governor Imran Ismail and Asad Umar should resign. He also announced protest sit-ins at different places from tomorrow. He said that the licence of K-Electric should be cancelled over unannounced loadshedding and overbilling. The JI city ameer said that they would establish 400 complaint cells where complaints could be lodged against K-Electric.
