Uncertainty, anger continue to grip IoK on 93rd day

SRINAGAR (92 News) – Uncertainly and anger continue to grip the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) as Indian military lockdown entered 93rd running day, on Tuesday. According to the KMS, complete ban on internet and prepaid mobile services have pushed the territory into the Stone Age. As part of an ongoing civil disobedience movement, people in the Kashmir Valley continue to keep their shops and business establishments closed for most part of the day and also shun schools and offices. Public transport also remains off the roads. A report citing fresh police data said that about 6,300 people, including political leaders, have been rounded up in the Kashmir Valley in the past three months. The report further said that the crackdown continued in the months of September and October, which saw almost 2,000 additional arrests in anger. Work at the High Court and subordinate courts continue to remain affected in all parts of Jammu region for the fifth consecutive day, today, due to indefinite strike by lawyers against the recent decision by the IOK administration to create a new department for registration of sale deeds and other documents pertaining to immovable property, divesting courts of their power to register them. Agitated over the downgrading of J&K to UT, activists of the Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party led by the party chairman, Harsh Dev Singh held a strong protest demo at Exhibition ground in Jammu. The Congress has said it is gearing up to launch a mass protest for restoration of statehood to IOK. This was stated during a meeting held in Jammu. District Congress Committee, Jammu, President Vikram Malhotra while addressing the meeting said that the territory has been reduced to an administration unit and its glory has been snatched. On the other hand, Indian troops resorted to indiscriminate firing after an army bunker was attacked by unidentified gunmen in Drubgam area of Pulwama district. The troops cordoned off the area and launched searches to nab the attackers.
