Under-trial prisoner shot dead on Lahore District Courts' premises

LAHORE (92 News) - An under-trial prisoner was shot and killed by a gunman who opened fire in police presence on the premises of District Courts Lahore on Wednesday. Police managed to arrest the suspect with a live weapon. The shooting incident on the premises of district courts raised finger at the poor security measures taken at the entry points. Preliminary police inquires showed that judicial police brought Nadeem Rashid to the district courts from Camp Jail for hearing into a murder case. The suspect armed with weapon entered the court's premises and fired shots at Rashid. The firing triggered panic among the people near-by. Police managed to arrest a suspect named as Haider Ali with a weapon and began investigation into the incident. The body was shifted for autopsy. The provincial police chief took notice of the incident and sought detailed report by the capital city police officer (CCPO).
