Unopposed appointment as UC Chairman: LHC issues notices to ECP, Khawaja Ahmad Hassan

LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court has on Friday issued notices to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khawaja Ahmad Hassan and Election Commission of Pakistan against unopposed appointment as Union Council (UC) 107 Chairman. The LHC Justice Shahid Karim heard a petition against Khawaja Ahmad Hassan, in which Sheraz Zaka, the lawyer of voter of Union Council 107, Aziz Masood, argued that anyone who is appointed to government office cannot contest in election for two years. The lawyer said that Khajwaj Ahmad Hassan served as Vice Chairman Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and two years have not passed until he resigned his post that is why he is not eligible contest election. Sheraz Zaka appealed that the nomination papers of PML-N leader should be rejected and to declared his unopposed appointment as Union Council (UC) 107 Chairman null and void.
