Unpaid teachers baton-charged in Karachi, 20 arrested

KARACHI (92 News) – Teachers staged a demonstration against blockage of their salaries outside Press Club on Monday. The police used teargas and water cannons to disperse the protesters. Three teachers and two women were injured by the baton charge. The protesters also chanted slogans against the government and demanded immediate release of their salaries. Meanwhile, the police have arrested over 20 protesters. The police also uprooted the protest camp. The protesters said that they will continue to protest for their right. They said that they were unpaid for the last five years and their families were starving. The condition of two women deteriorated in the protest camp and they were shifted to hospital.
