ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Up to 8-10 hours shutdown has made life a hell as the power crisis intensified in the sweltering heat across the country.

The power shortfall has exceeded 6,000 megawatts. Owing to shortage of water, eight units generating electricity have been closed.

On the other hand, citizens staged a demonstration against the Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO). In Gujranwala, the Jamaat-e-Islami staged a protest demonstration on GT Road.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has submitted a resolution against loadshedding in the Punjab Assembly.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, up to 16-hour power shutdown has become a routine matter.

According to the Power Division, overall power production is 19,000 megawatts while demand is 25,000 megawatts.
