ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The opposition caused an uproar during the joint session after Defence Minister Khawaja Asif termed the opposition as remnants of the previous government.

Expressing his views in the Parliament on Tuesday, he said that the opposition had termed the Chief of Staff as their 'father'. However, Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf ordered to delete the word 'father' from the proceedings.

Later, the opposition staged a protest and resorted to hooliganism.

The defence minister also criticized the PTI chairman, saying that the said person has no courage to appear before the courts. "The PTI chairman is hiding like a rat after getting the workers arrested," he added.

Speaking on the floor of the House, PTI Senator Ali Zafar said that a majority of parliament members have not gone through the law and its understanding is a distant matter. He said that a law is passed after just 'yes' or 'no'. "What will be the status of that law? The scene is like sheep being driven."

PPP's Raza Rabbani said that the members should not become part of a game bulldozing the joint session or parliament. "We should take steps to strengthen the parliament."

Jamaat-e-Islami's Mushtaq Ahmed asked the house members not to make the parliament a rubber stamp. "The members have not even received an agenda. The speaker should adjourn the session for two days," he demanded.

Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that there is no sheep or wolf in the House. "Please do not use such words. The word of 'wolf' should be deleted from the proceedings," he added.
